The volunteer recruitment for the 2026 FIRST Film Festival is now open, running from March 27, 2026 to May 8, 2026 (Beijing Time).<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\nYou may view and manage your submitted or ongoing applications in your Personal Center<\/a>.\r\n\r\n\r\n

We look forward to your application. The only official channel for volunteer registration is the online application form on the FIRST Film Festival official website. Please complete and submit the form as required; no application fees will be charged at any stage.<\/div>\r\n

Volunteer positions for this year\u2019s festival are divided into Full Term Volunteers and Half Term Volunteers:<\/div>\r\n
FIRST International Film Festival: approximately 12 Extended Full Term, 40 Full Term, 80 First Half, and 80 Second Half volunteers;<\/div>\r\n
FIRST Fantastic Film Festival: approximately 30 Full Term, 45 First Half, and 45 Second Half volunteers.<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n

Applicants may apply for volunteer positions at either festival individually or for cross-festival universal positions, and select the corresponding service period upon registration.<\/div>\r\n

Volunteer selection consists of two stages: preliminary screening and interview. Shortlist results will be announced on June 11, 2026 (FIRST International Film Festival) and August 20, 2026 (FIRST Fantastic Film Festival) respectively.<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\nPlease read the Volunteer Application Guidelines<\/a> carefully before applying. \"300 Seconds. One Strike.\"<\/b><\/p>\r\n

Established in 2020, the Short Short Film<\/b> section is China\u2019s first official festival competition dedicated to super-short formats, featuring the creative development arm, the 300s Short Project<\/b>. Championing lightweight production and portable devices, the section empowers creators to articulate diverse perspectives on contemporary society, humanity, and technological evolution. It explores innovations in cinematic language within a 5-minute limit, expanding the boundaries of viewing scenarios.<\/p>\r\n

Since 2020, FIRST and its principal partner, vivo, have consistently utilized 5-minute cinematic expressions to reflect on society, humanity, and technology. This year, the unit will collaborate with the principal partner platform, Xiaohongshu, to launch an exclusive in-app Short Film Track. This initiative encourages the next generation of creators to explore diverse visual storytelling inspired by topical trends in the digital-native era. Effective immediately, in addition to the official FIRST website, applicants can search for the \"shortfilm\" on Xiaohongshu. Posting a video with the designated hashtag according to the event rules will be recognized as a successful registration.<\/span><\/div>\r\n

Based on the horizon,social reflection and artistic exploration, FIRST Documentary Lab is committed to providing a more liberal and diversified evaluation standard for documentary creations.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

FIRST Training Camp is a film production and education program designed for Sinophone filmmakers across the globe. Focusing on the joy of hands-on experience, the program provides practical guidance in various aspects of filmmaking, such as directing, screenwriting, producing, acting, cinematography, art design, sound and editing. The aim is to cultivate a new generation of filmmakers by offering an environment that goes beyond traditional academic education.<\/p>\r\n

Training Camp employs a rotating mentorship system, inviting accomplished filmmakers annually to form an advisory team. The mentor and advisors share their expertise in areas like screenwriting, audio-visual presentation, acting, post-production, and team collaboration through hands-on teaching.<\/p>\r\n

Over the years, renowned filmmakers, such as Michael Andreen (U.S., 2012), Cristiano Borton (Italy, 2013), Peter Newman (U.S., 2014), Shozo Ichiyama (Japan, 2015), Hong-jin Na (South Korea, 2015), B\u00e9la Tarr (Hungary, 2017) , Tsai Ming-liang (Malaysia, 2018), Mohsen Makhmalbaf (Iraq,2019), Cao Baoping (China, 2020), Zheng Dasheng (China, 2021), and Zhang Lyu (China, 2022)\u00a0have joined forces with other skilled professionals to guide aspiring filmmakers in Xining\u2019s distinctive geographical and cultural context. Together, they help young creatives tap into their artistic instincts and develop the skills to tell authentic, captivating stories.<\/p>\r\n

In 2023, FIRST Training Camp will continue to recruit talent in directing, producing, cinematography, art design, and sound, while introducing a new focus on film editing. Creators will be grouped based on their specific strengths for collaborative projects, fostering an atmosphere of growth and camaraderie among filmmakers with diverse backgrounds and experiences.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
