But perhaps it is not his memory and mine that have left me with memories of him, but my memories of him that have shaped an imaginary person. The fuller this imaginary image is, the more I miss it, and perhaps the farther it is from the real him. I started by shooting 135mm film documentary animation. It is both a real record of the outside world and a &#8220;hand-made&#8221; product of my manual processing and shifting.
