Since its arrival in Xining, FIRST International Film Festival has been trying to present a complete reflection on local links and youth culture, and to create deeper links with people. In the unique natural ecology and cultural environment of Xining, we can find not only the free field in which the film festival is located, but also the “wild” temperament of the city given by the natural environment with biodiversity. Environment and culture have always been mutually reinforcing, and biodiversity and cultural diversity are thus mutually fulfilling.
Three-River-Source National Park is the most concentrated presentation of biodiversity on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, a special spatial form that unites different human cultures and nature, carrying the nostalgia and dreams of human beings, and a place of symbiosis between human beings and wildlife; while FIRST is the root sample of the diversity of the film industry ecosystem. When these two different “diversities” are connected under the topic of “sustainability”, forests, grasslands, wetlands, deserts, glaciers, oceans, wildlife, climate, energy, green economy… …will be a new perspective from the cliché of “environmental protection”. Three-River-Source area is a typical representative of large-scale conservation of global highland alpine ecosystems, while protecting the unique biological tissue resources of the alpine. The vast and vibrant grasses and trees are like a mapping of the creative force that flourishes and grows unchecked. The connection between people and nature and the care for sustainable development found in the images will bring more inspiration to people on the protection of biodiversity and sustainable development.
