Director's statement

With the background of the first batch of National Intangible Cultural Heritage representatives of Lingnan Region folk culture–Lion Dance, this film told the story of Pan Xiaohe, the village secretary of Nanshi Village, who leaded villagers to convene an amateur lion dance team to participate in the city’s Autumn Scenery Competition. They overcame difficulties and finally achieved breakthroughs and changes in themselves. Through the survey of villagers of different ages, the film reflected different views of the new and old generations on traditional culture in urban and rural areas and the changes and prosperity brought to people’s lives by the rural revitalization policy. The film is based on the main line of the whole village’s efforts for the competition, and it tells general truth through a little story, which not only focuses on the inheritance and innovation of folk culture, but also embodies humanistic care and spiritual construction of new countryside.
